FAQS

AT WHAT AGE CAN CHILDREN JOIN KC SWIMMERS?

We take children from 3 years old. Children can go into the pool independently.

HOW MANY IN A SWIMMING CLASS?

We have up to 5 swimmers per class up to and including stage 5 lessons.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE A CHILD TO LEARN TO SWIM?

Mastering swimming, like any skill, depends greatly on several different factors which include, age, natural ability, willingness to learn, the style of teaching and practicing outside of the lesson. This means that each student progresses at their own rate.

ARE THE TEACHERS IN THE WATER?

For our beginner classes (Stage 1 & 2) a water helper will be in the pool with the children. For the Duckling lessons the teacher and the water helper will be in the pool with the children.

HOW DO WE PAY FOR A SWIMMING LESSON?

Bookings are taken as a block booking for the course (usually 10 weeks long). Payments are made through https://kc-swimmers.class4kids.co.uk/term/1. To pay by childcare vouchers, please contact us directly.

WHEN SHOULD I BUY GOGGLES FOR MY CHILD?

We recommend goggles for all our swimmers.

DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO WEAR A SWIM HAT?

Swimming hats are not compulsory, but we do recommend them. Long hair should be tied back.

WILL MY CHILD USE EQUIPMENT DURING THE LESSON?

Equipment will be available during the sessions for swimmers to practice their skills. This equipment is cleaned between each session. Children in our beginner lessons will be provided with a swim backpack.

HOW DO I FIND OUT MY CHILD'S PROGRESS. DO YOU AWARD BADGES AND CERTIFICATES?

Children in all stages (apart from stamina) will receive a report at the end of term electronically (via email). If the child passes their current stage, certificates and badges are awarded at the end of the term.

HOW DO YOU ASSESS MY CHILD?

The children are continually assessed throughout the term, following the Swim England guidelines. To pass a stage the child must be able to complete each outcome within the stage consistently.

WHAT MY CHILD NEED FOR SWIMMING LESSONS.

Children should have a swimming suit. Ideally a fitted one-piece - more clothes can make swimming more difficult and make the children feel the cold more. We also recommend well-fitting goggles and a swimming hat.

HOW LONG IS THE SWIMMING LESSON?

Ducklings and Stages 1 to 5 are 30 minutes long. Stamina & Stage 6 are 60mins long.

IS THERE PARKING ON SITE?

See the site information under services for details on parking at each site.

WHERE DO YOU OPERATE LESSONS FROM

Term  time we operate from Kendrick School pool.
We also offer summer lessons from Loddon Primary School. Please see services tab for more details.

CAN I USE THE CHANGING ROOMS?

Changing rooms will be in use. Please try to use these for the shortest amount of time possible before and after the lesson.
If there is anything you can do to help reduce the time you use the changing rooms, such as arriving 'beach-ready' with costumes under clothes it would be very much appreciated.

DO I HAVE TO STAY ON SITE WHILE MY CHILD IS HAVING THEIR LESSON?

Yes. All children should be accompanied by a parent/carer, who must stay on site for the duration of the lesson.
For children under 6, parents/carers can watch from poolside. (Spectator space is very limited, so we recommend only one parent/carer per child). For children 6 and over, parents/carers will be invited for a designated viewing week.

WHERE CAN I FIND OUT WHAT TIME MY CHILD LESSON IS?

If you log into https://www.class4kids.co.uk/login and then your parent dashboard. Then click on 'bookings and payments'. Details on lessons and times are shown here.
